TRGA Reaches the Regular Season Midpoint

The TRGA regular season reached its midpoint Sunday at Drugan's Castle Mound in Holmen, WI. More than 100 players were greeted by a beautiful golf course and perfect weather.

It took Jake Dunn one extra hole to win the men's championship flight. Dunn, Connor Frawley and Jason Pendleton all finished their rounds with even par 72. Dunn got into the playoff with birdies on the 17th and 18th holes. 10 players finished within two shots of the lead. Dunn was the 2014 TRGA Championship Player of the Year.

In men's first flight, Tim Darwin got his first win of the season. His 76 was two shots better than runner-up Bruce Lindseth. Steve Franke was third with 78. Joe Loomis, who will be moving up to championship flight at Cedar Creek, was fourth with 79.

Danny Jones picked up the win in second flight. Jones shot a steady 78. Calvin King and Chuck Moore tied for second place with 80.

Jim Gilbertson cruised to victory in the third flight. Gilbertson's 79 was five shots better than Tom Grapes who fired an 84.

In the fourth flight, Scott Knothe made a last minute decision to get into the event. He's glad he did! Knothe picked up the win shooting an 82. Bob Cagle, Paul Jackson and Dan Leis tied for second with 86.

Marty Gora returned to TRGA action after recovering from off-season surgery. And he almost picked up the win. However, Bill Schmitt was too strong in the one hole playoff as he picked up the win. Schmitt and Gora both shot 92 in regulation. Pat Rice finished third with 93.

Women's championship flight produced a tight battle. Chelsea Dunnum picked up another win. Her 83 was two shots better than Lynn Lenz and Krista Anderson, who both finished at 85.

And Cathi Baus picked up another win in the flighted division. Baus shot a net 67. Sue Moore was second with a net 68.

After a break for Father's Day weekend, the TRGA returns to action at Cedar Creek on Sunday, June 28. Another large field is expected.
