TRGA Golfers Battle Elements Again

At least there was no snow, or hail or mudslides.   But there was also no sun and little, if any heat.   The TRGA's fourth event of the season was played once again, in generally miserable weather.   However, almost nobody complained much at Cedar Valley Golf Course in rural Winona, MN.   Mother nature has been difficult, but hasn't dialed up anything these hardy TRGA players can't handle.

Viroqua native Troy Dobbe picked up his second win of the season, firing a 2-over-par 74.   Dobbe's 35 on the back nine held-off second place finisher Mike Palen, who had his sights set on his second win of the season.   Mike Drugan finished in third place with an 80.

In the First Flight, Randy Olson continued his solid early-season play, finishing first with an 81.   Matt Hoehn was next at 83.

Andrew Lamprecht, playing in only his 2nd career TRGA tournament, won the Second Flight with an 84.   Dan Leis was second at 87.

Bob Roers came from behind after nine holes to beat Dan Breeden in the Third Flight.   Roers finished with an 88.   Breeden shot 90.

18 holes wasn't enough to settle things in the Fourth Flight.   Damian Bork, Marv Davis and Don Feldner tied with 93.   Bork made sure all three made it back to the warm clubhouse quickly.  His par on the first playoff hole sealed the victory.

The most convincing win of the day, belongs to Pat Rice.    He prevailed by five strokes in the Men's Gold division.   Rice shot 87.   David Sanchez and Larry Shingleton tied for second place at 92.

Drugan's Castle Mound is next up on the TRGA schedule in three weeks.  It's likely everyone will have their winter gear in the car just in case.
