The TRGA's 20th season will, in all likelihood, come to a dramatic conclusion this weekend. Player-of-the-Year races are still wide open heading into the final. Tom McClintock leads the men's championship field. But Troy Dobbe and Jake Dunn are still in contention. In addition, the men's championship winner for the two-day event will earn an exemption into the 2016 Wisconsin State Amateur Championship. Right now there's a three-way tie for the lead in the men's flighted field. Kevin Groth, Jeff Osgood and Jeremiah Shimshak all have 69.0 points. Several players are right behind them. Chelsea Dunnum leads the women's championship field with 72 points. Krista Anderson and Terry Thomas are tied for second place. Cathi Baus has a six point lead over Terry Ziegelbauer in the women's flighted division.
The TRGA Championship is scheduled for August 22nd and August 23rd. Saturday's first round will be played at the Bridges Golf Club in Winona, Mn. The Bridges is an old-school, shotmaker's layout. Every hole demands the players full attention. Round two will be played again at The LaCrosse Country Club in Onalaska, WI. While completely different visually than The Bridges, The LaCrosse Country Club is equally difficult. The LCC greens might be the most challenging putting surfaces that TRGA players see all season.
Tee time both days are scheduled to start at 8:00 am.
