New Venue for TRGA Championship

Forest Hills will be the host for day-1 of the annual 36-hole Championship Tournament.   The LaCrosse Country Club will once again host the final round.  The TRGA adult regular season will again consist of 10 regular-season, 18-hole events.    However, the events at River Run, Hiawatha and The Bridges will move to different weekends.  "We're excited about the changes"  said TRGA Executive Director Jim Socha. "Our players tell me they can't wait to get started!"

Fewer Flights

In addition, the TRGA will change its' flight structure for 2018.   There will be five men's flights (down from six) and one women's division (down from two).  The men will compete in Men's Championship, First Flight, Second Flight, Third Flight and Men's Gold Flight.  All women will compete in the Women's Flight in which every player will compete at 75 percent of their TRGA handicap index.  "We received a lot of positive feedback on the changes" said Socha.

3 Event Minimum

In another change, TRGA players will now be required to compete in three regular-season events in order to qualify for the 36-hole Championship.   Up until this year, the minimum had been four events.  However, calculations for the TRGA Player-of-the-Year awards will still be calculated on competitors best four regular-season finishes plus points awarded in the Championship.   "A player could win the player of the year with three regular season events plus the Championship Tournament points, but it won't be easy," said Socha.
