I recently received an email from Tom Fischer;
Learned a valuable lesson last week in Black River. Started out with a double, triple, quad, double, double, double. Was +15 after the first 6 holes! I would never do it, but felt like pulling a "did not finish" and walking off after 6 holes. Then, something happened. Made a few corrections, dug down a little, and played the last 12 holes at +9! Finished tied for third, got 11 points, and $42.50! The lesson learned is never get down, never give up. There's always the next hole to play. Anyway, thanks again, and I'll see you tomorrow.
Footnote: The very next week at Drugan's Castle Mound, Tom won by a single stroke.
